It seems that green is the new pink.

My best friend has an upper management position in a large pharmaceutical company. A large pharmaceutical company that was recently found guilty in a class action sexual discrimination suit. As a result they paid a consultant what was probably a boat load of money and brought upper management in for a long overdue diversity training.

In my best friend’s welcome bag there was a green shirt. It was actually a nice green shirt and she looked forward to wearing it to identify with her as yet unannounced “team.”

She was a bit surprised to enter the meeting arena the following day to see a sea of blue. Not another green shirt in sight. This was surprising since she was, after all, supposed to find the other Green Shirts to align with for the day.

It slowly dawned on her that there were so many blue shirts because all the men got blue. And the women got green. With few females in upper management it was hard to spot another green shirt.

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?????

Does it seem a little odd to anybody else that in a diversity training—in a company that has been found guilty of sexual discrimination—the leader would so blatantly segregate two distinct groups??
